Den marockanska artisten Malak är någon som jag har följt under en längre tid. Det är fint att få följa hennes utveckling och jag har länge tänkt på hennes musik som en slags drömrester, som att hennes röst är skuren ifrån drömmarna. Sömnen och drömmarna blir som ett slags skydd mot det verkliga, mot världens grymheter. Hennes röst gör mig lugn och sätter upp som ett staket mot det jobbiga, det skapar en gräns där det som skaver inte får passera. Senaste singeln heter Sleeps, lullaby to venus och är som en vacker godnattvisa. Idag pratar jag lite med Malak om singeln och planerna för nästa år.
Tell me about your new single!
- Sleeps, lullaby to venus is almost sang like a whisper. The concept of it entails a fragile, virgin and pure character untouched by the cruelty of the world, and when exposed to it, she chooses to sing to it to help sleep and not fully wake up on her. As the first song from my upcoming project entitled Effluvium, it sort of just opens you up to a whole world I’ve long had trouble understanding as a human. What's your plans for next year?
- My plan for next year is to finally release this project and hopefully gig a lot more, which is one of the best bits of the job really. So we’re hoping to get booked more, fingers crossed!
What will you remember the most from this year?
- 2025 was really a major turnaround in my life. I had a whole major slap on my face and finally got convinced that corporate life is seriously not for me. That realisation itself helped me have many reflections and surely inspired this project in so many ways, where you can clearly hear this great battle I was having for choosing the right thing and fear to end up choosing wrongly.
- 2025 was also the year where I met many great people, that i continue to appreciate to this day which inspired one of the songs from the project titled Walking from a distance. I had my first tour as an opener and performed at MOMO festival which was massively cool, hoping to do more shows and tours in the future.
